Consulting, maintenance and repairs for for Capelle aan den IJssel’s sewer installation
“In Capelle aan den IJssel there is more than 250 kilometres of municipal sewers, with dozens of smaller and larger sewer ground,” says Marc Sintnicolaas, technical manager of the municipality’s plants. “It requires the necessary inspection, maintenance and renovation. We work closely with Aspatec for advice, service and maintenance.”
About two years ago Marc Sintnicolaas was introduced to Aspatec at the Aquabeurs (tradeshow) in Gorinchem. “Aspatec is a knowlegable partner, who thinks along with us and is a true specialist.” stresses Sintnicolaas. “They always come up with the right advice, innovative solutions, that are always tested before the roll out on a larger scale.”
Municipality of Midden Delfland removes foul odors
The streets of Municipality Midden Delfland are odor-free again, thanks to a odor filter developed by Aspatec in combination with an open well lid. Both the municipality and the inhabitants are enthusiastic. We regularly received complaints about foul odors in the streets and residential homes. The smell would come and go with cold or warm weather, heavy rainfall or with certain wind angles. After observing the smell and measuring the results, it turned out to be a persistent problem. “In the Netherlands we use a closed sewer system,” says André Haring, supervisor for the public seweage at the Municipality of Midden-Delfland. “Due to the closed system, high pressure can occur at particular points in the sewer, releasing foul gases in the streets or even inside of residential homes. In order to prevent odors, the sewer needs airation and venting. If water enters the sewer, air must exit. And if the water runs out of the sewer, it has to be released into the air.”

Foul odors from the sewer and angry neighbors; Aspatec returns fresh air to Gouda
Foul odors from the sewer, angry neighbors and local politicians demanded answers. It was this explosive mix that Cyclus from Gouda faced in the fall of 2013.
The F.W. Reitzstraat in the Gouda district of Kort Haarlem, just above the Hollandsche IJssel, is a pleasant town street, with a village feeling to it. The neighborhood has a takeaway Chinese restaurant, a playground, a care home and in the summer residents of this popular neighborhood chat with each other on garden benches in front of their homes.
In recent years, the neighbourhood was less enjoyable. Despite the relatively ‘green’ environment of the IJssel and the spacious park on the Cronjéstraat, the air smelled foul, to say the least.
Pure air for dairy plant The Graafstroom
At dairy plant Graafstroom, wastewater treatment takes place in a closed hall. This process releases an unpleasant odor. What is even worse is that waste dissapears into the air! “Colleagues who come here to collect samples for the lab always complained about the smell,” said Eimy Heikoop, process operator at the Graafstroom dairy plant, who works with great care, passion and love for milk of the best cows in the area.”I work in this room for 4 to 6 hours a day, so I no longer smell it.”
As with any production process, the Graafstroom also has industrial waste water that must be treated. Heikoop explains: “The waste is separated from the water with the help of chemicals. This process gives an unpleasant environmental odor. We suspected that waste was released into the air. “
Aspatec Holland provides its own maintenance and repair service. Throughout the past years we were able to perform all maintenance and repairs of fragrance filters quickly and professionally. Safety is of utmost importance, which is why all our mechanics have a VCA certificate and NEN-EN 50110 / NEN3140.
Do you need maintenance?
To prevent odor complaints, the filter must be replaced well in time. In addition preventive maintenance must also be carried out on our Plasma technique!
